Mania Aghaei Meibodi
Mania Aghaei Meibodi is an architect who utilizes algorithms, computation and robots to design and fabricate architecture. Her interest lies in the design of highly detailed freeforms that are not draw-able and in the full scale materialization of these forms complexity with an ultra-high resolution. In 2013, she founded the architecture firm meonia together with her partner Hamia Aghaie Mibody, where her research in utilizing digital technologies for architecture is scaled up to actual building scale. Alongside, she is a postdoctoral fellow at the Chair for Digital Building Technologies of ETH Zurich where she supervises PhD scholars and pursues her practice-based research on computation and hybrid digital manufacturing. In 2009, she founded the Design and Making (D&M) architectural design studio at the Lulea University of Technology, Sweden, and since has been senior lecturer there as well as at the KTH School of Architecture and Built Environment in Stockholm, Sweden. Mania Aghaei Meibodi holds a doctoral degree in architecture with specialty in architectural technology and a master’s degree in Architecture from the KTH School of Architecture and Built Environment. At the NCCR Digital Fabrication she supports the project of the NEST Unit.
