Aleksandra Anna Apolinarska

Aleksandra Anna (Ania) Apolinarska is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Gramazio Kohler Research (GKR) at ETH Zurich and has joined the NCCR Digital Fabrication programme in 2018.

Ania studied architecture and holds a Doctor of Sciences degree from ETH Zurich. In her PhD thesis at Gramazio Kohler Research, she investigated the computational design of complex timber structures made of simple elements for robotic fabrication and assembly, such as the Sequential Roof project and butt-jointed reciprocal frames as case studies.

In her current research, Ania is developing innovative computational design methods that address complex interrelations between multiple design objectives such as geometry, structural performance and robotic fabrication.

Ania is also a registered architect with an extensive experience in computational design of geometrically complex buildings, gathered throughout several years of professional career in offices across Europe.
