The National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Digital Fabrication is pleased to announce that it will host two significant conferences in the field of digital fabrication in architecture and construction in September 2018: Digital Concrete 2018, the 1st RILEM International Conference on Concrete and Digital Fabrication, and ROB|ARCH 2018.

Thanks to its excellent infrastructure, its focus on cross-disciplinary research, and its strong ties to architecture and the construction industry, the NCCR Digital Fabrication is the perfect match for Digital Concrete and ROB|ARCH 2018.

Digital Concrete 2018 from September 10 to 12, 2018
Innovation and development as a result of ongoing research in digital fabrication with cementitious materials promise to revolutionise the world of concrete construction. Keynotes and invited papers will comprehensively illustrate the state of the art of this developing field, as well as a vision of where it is headed. These talks will be compiled within a special issue of Cement and Concrete Research, the leading scientific journal in the field. Aspects covered will include digital fabrication processes, robotics, materials and processing science, mechanics as well as social, economical and ecological impact.

The symposium will start with PhD training courses on rheology and admixtures on September 9, 2018. The training courses will be followed by conference activities from September 10 to 12, 2018. The call for papers and updated information about the conference can be found on the event website: www.digitalconcrete2018.ethz.ch/

ROB|ARCH 2018 from September 10 to 15, 2018: “Radical Cross-Disciplinarity”
The ROB|ARCH conference series is a collaborative effort between the co-hosting universities, industry partners, and the Association for Robots in Architecture. ROB|ARCH 2018 will convey a broad spectrum of artistic, scientific and entrepreneurial skills, focusing on strategies and principles of robotic fabrication in architecture, art, and design. A cross-disciplinary approach to this larger field complements the transformation processes that robotic research and creative industries are increasingly facing today in a globalised and interconnected world which is why ROB|ARCH 2018 will focus on the topic “Radical Cross-Disciplinarity”.

ROB|ARCH 2018 takes place right after Digital Concrete 2018 with a common plenary session between the two conferences. The symposium will begin with hands-on workshops from September 10 to 12, 2018. The conference activities will take place from September 12 to 14, 2016. The call for workshops and papers as well as updated information about the conference can be found on the event’s website: www.robarch2018.org/

The NCCR Digital Fabrication is convinced that the combination of these two unique events will unleash unparalleled synergies and is looking forward to stimulate intense international exchange in its role as international hotspot for cross-disciplinary research in digital fabrication in architecture and construction.
