We are proud to announce that NCCR Digital Fabrication has been given the Swedish Concrete Award 2019. Collecting the Award on behalf of the whole NCCR, Deputy Director Robert Flatt presented “Digital Concrete: Interdisciplinarity, Environment and Large Scale Demonstrators” at the ceremony on 21st November.

In a statement, the Swedish Concrete Society stated “Since its foundation in 2014, the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Digital Fabrication has aimed to revolutionise architecture through a seamless combination of digital technologies and physical building processes. Based on inter-organisational cooperation and including an equal opportunities program, over 60 researchers across Switzerland collaborate to develop groundbreaking solutions for the construction industry of tomorrow.”

Established in 1985, the Swedish Concrete Award is given biannually to “Recognised experts in the building or civil engineering field who, through their lecture, can convey news and give impetus to the development”. This year’s award marks the first time that the recipient is an organisation, rather than an individual.
